
Yellow School Buses go 'green'
The first buses of their kind in Greater Manchester, the 39 new eco-friendly vehicles have been secured by transport officers for specified school services throughout all ten districts of Greater Manchester, bringing the total number of Yellow School Buses to 81.
Standish Community High School is the first school in the region to receive a conventional diesel eco-friendly Yellow School Bus.
Lynne Fox, Headteacher, said: "We are delighted to be part of this scheme. We are fully committed to supporting this development and our students are pleased to be using an eco-friendly bus as we place a high emphasis on being environmentally friendly."
Councillor Mark Aldred, Chair of Transport for Greater Manchester Committee's Bus Network Sub Committee, was delighted with the news: "Our Yellow School Buses provide important services for pupils and parents throughout the region, carrying almost 5,000 young people to and from school each day.
